Golf Trick Shots
Even though you and I often play the leisurely game of golf on a breezy Sunday forenoon, there are others who do not play – they perform golf trick shots!
Golf trick shot artists like Denis Pugh, Peter J., Jeremy Dale, Ben Witter, Paul Barrington and a few others do amazing tricks with golf balls that one has to see to believe.
And when they take part in tournaments, these become nothing short of national events in the United States. Besides, they also reveal some of their ‘trick of the trade’ to enthusiastic trainees, if perused doggedly.

Golf Trick Shot Shows in the US, incidentally, draw big crowds that include amateur and professional players alike when these are performed for fund raising or other charitable purposes.
In fact, the extraordinary hand-eye synchronization along with amazing motor skill exhibited by these accomplished artists often provides entertainment for the whole family.
For instance, a trick shot played from the knees when the ball is too close to the bunker lip and it becomes hard for the player to balance himself can be termed as an excellent sand trick shot any day.
However, the trick lies in using the knees and the shins as ground support while keeping the back and the rear end straight and then taking the swing. The only risk is when the player tries to bend over more and thus can loose the balance.
The trick in golf trick shots often involves the use of trick clubs that are frequently made from fishing rods, tough hose pipes, steel shafts with hinges and many more un-club-like implements.
Sometimes a twin-headed club or a baby wood is brought into action as well. Then there are shots taken by trick shot artists while blindfolded or in a kneeling or sitting posture.
Golf Trick Shots Championship
In the World Trick Shot Championship that was recently held at The Celtic Manor Resort, the competitors who were mostly PGA professionals kept the audience as well as the judges spellbound with their display of weird looking clubs and out-of-the-world trick shots.
Former European Tour Professional and contemporary Sky Sports presenter, Robert Lee took the trouble of introducing key trick shot artists that included Vicente Ballesteros, Ben Witter and a few others who showed their talents to a huge audience that represented golfers from several international golfing institutions.
Here a few of the better known golf trick shots…
- Trick shot for Backspin involves back spinning the ball while it flies high up in the sky
- Trick shot – chip with the Grip demonstrates how a ball is hit with an upside-down club, involving chipping with the grip.
- Trick shot involving hitting the ball between the legs shows the difficult art of hitting a ball between the legs.
- Trick shot involving drive set up on the knees shows how to hit the ball from a kneeling position.
- Trick shot that involves spinning the ball demonstrates how the ball is allowed to spin incredibly on the club face.
- Trick shot that involves hitting the ball and catching it shows driving one ball off whilst catching another in the hand with one single shot.
